Vice President, Finance

About the role

Location: Brunswick, GA Department: Finance Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Employment Type: Full-Time | Exempt   Southeast Georgia Health System is seeking an experienced Vice President of Finance / Controller to lead enterprise-wide financial operations, accounting, reporting, budgeting, and strategic financial management. This senior finance executive will partner closely with the CFO and operational leaders to ensure financial integrity, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and long-term financial sustainability across the health system. This role is ideal for a healthcare finance leader with expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, accounting operations, revenue cycle oversight, cash management, audits, and healthcare financial strategy. Key Responsibilities Oversees, directs and participates in the preparation of the monthly financial statements.  Ensure that they are completed accurately each month by the identified deadline. Oversee and direct the daily/weekly/monthly system financial operations to provide accurate timely preparation of core functions like payroll, AP, accounting, etc. Oversees continual monitoring of System’s A/R reserves with the accounting staff and in collaboration with Patient Financial Services. Oversees, directs and participates in the preparation of the annual Business Plan including the operating and capital budgets for the Health System for management and the Board of Directors.  Reviews and analyzes the budget performance and identified variances; ensures effective cost control Works in tandem with the CFO to provide advice and assistance to department managers/ directors in analyzing and interpreting financial data and reports and in presenting the information to their departments and/or physician groups Works with SGPA key staff to identify financial reporting and financial management opportunities, meets with SGPA leaders on a routine basis. Evaluates the information system needs for the Finance department on an ongoing basis. Directs and participates in the development and execution of appropriate strategies and action plans to ensure the effective integration of the Accounting and Finance functions with the other Health System departments. Directs the timely completion of accurate information for external audits, examinations, and related projects for the Health System. Works with the CFO to monitor system financial internal controls. Qualifications Education Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting or related field required CPA or MBA preferred  Experience  5 or more years of accounting experience, preferably in health care Knowledge, Skills & Abilities   Healthcare finance and hospital accounting expertise     Financial planning and analysis (FP&A)     Budget development and variance analysis     Revenue cycle management and reimbursement knowledge     GAAP accounting principles and financial reporting     Internal controls, compliance, and audit management     Cash management and treasury operations     Enterprise financial systems and reporting tools     Leadership, team development, and change management     Strategic thinking and business partnership skills     Exceptional analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities   Why Join Southeast Georgia Health System?
