About the role
Contract | 6–12 months | Day rate + expenses | Travel M–F, CONUS The mandate A distressed manufacturing asset needs someone with authority to make hard decisions quickly. You are placed to manage liquidity, stabilize the business, and execute the restructuring — whether that means exiting product lines, renegotiating debt, closing sites, or preparing an asset for sale. This is not a coaching role. You will make decisions that affect people's jobs, and you will make them on a compressed timeline with incomplete information. What you'll own Immediate liquidity management and cash conservation 13-week cash flow as the primary operating instrument Lender, creditor, and stakeholder negotiation and communication Product line and customer profitability analysis, and the divestiture or exit decisions that follow Cost structure reduction, including headcount and footprint actions Debt restructuring, forbearance, and amendment negotiation Contingency planning, including 363 sale or Chapter 11 preparation where applicable Board, sponsor, and lender reporting under high scrutiny What you bring 15+ years of senior operating or financial leadership, with direct turnaround or restructuring accountability Multiple completed distressed engagements — this role is not a first turnaround Deep liquidity management capability under genuine constraint Lender negotiation experience across forbearance, amendment, and refinancing Manufacturing operations literacy — you can evaluate whether a plant should stay open The judgment and steadiness to hold a room that is losing confidence Strong plus: CTP, CIRA, or equivalent credential; Chapter 11 experience; carve-out or asset sale execution; industrial and manufacturing sector concentration.
