About the role
Position: Technical Project Manager Reports to: Manager of Project Management Company Overview At Parasol Alliance, our mission is to bring strategy, innovation, and accountability to our clients’ use of technology, enabling them to maximize profitability, growth, and success. Parasol Alliance is a technology solutions company exclusively serving the senior living field. We provide technology strategy, project leadership, and comprehensive technology support to help our clients make smart technology investments, effectively leverage technology to achieve their business objectives, and enhance the lives of those who live and work in their communities. We are a growing company that values and empowers our team members. We seek individuals who are humble, hungry, and smart; who take ownership of their work; and who are committed to the growth and success of our clients and Parasol Alliance. We offer a remote-first work environment, responsible paid time off, bonus opportunities, and an award-winning culture. Position Mission The Technical Project Manager (TPM) is responsible and accountable for successfully planning, coordinating, and delivering complex technology projects across Parasol Alliance’s client environments. This role combines strong project management disciplines with a solid understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud technologies, networking, cybersecurity, Microsoft technologies, systems implementations, and technology integrations. The Technical Project Manager serves as the central point of coordination between clients, Parasol technical teams, technology vendors, and other stakeholders. The TPM must understand the technical objectives, dependencies, risks, and business impact of each project and translate those elements into an actionable project plan. While this position is not primarily responsible for performing engineering work, the Technical Project Manager must possess sufficient technical knowledge to effectively lead technical discussions, challenge assumptions, identify risks and dependencies, communicate with engineers and vendors, and ensure solutions are technically and operationally ready for implementation. Success in this role requires strong ownership, technical curiosity, organization, critical thinking, and the ability to simultaneously manage multiple complex technology initiatives. Responsibilities Lead technology projects from initial discovery and planning through implementation, validation, documentation, and project closeout. Develop comprehensive technical project plans that identify scope, milestones, dependencies, resources, deliverables, timelines, risks, testing requirements, and success criteria. Partner with engineers, technical leads, vendors, and client stakeholders to validate project requirements and technical feasibility before execution. Understand proposed technical solutions well enough to identify missing requirements, dependencies, risks, and potential implementation challenges. Facilitate technical discovery and project kickoff meetings to ensure all stakeholders have a clear understanding of the project objectives, technical approach, responsibilities, and expected outcomes. Ensure appropriate technical discovery, documentation, testing, implementation, and validation activities are incorporated into each project. Coordinate implementation and cutover activities, including communication plans, technical resources, vendor participation, testing, rollback planning, and post-implementation validation. Confirm projects meet technical and operational acceptance criteria prior to closure. Serve as a primary point of contact for clients throughout the lifecycle of assigned technical projects. Requirements 3+ years of experience managing technical or IT projects involving infrastructure, cloud services, systems implementations, migrations, networking, cybersecurity, or related technologies. Demonstrated understanding of IT infrastructure and modern technology environments. Working knowledge of Microsoft technologies such as Microsoft 365, Entra ID/Azure AD, Intune, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Azure services. Working knowledge of networking concepts, including LAN/WAN, wireless networking, firewalls, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and internet connectivity. Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts, including identity management, MFA, endpoint security, access controls, vulnerability remediation, and security best practices. Experience coordinating technical implementations involving multiple engineers, vendors, systems, and stakeholders. Ability to read and understand technical documentation, implementation plans, network diagrams, system requirements, and vendor statements of work. Ability to identify technical dependencies, risks, gaps, and questions before they negatively impact a project. Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities. Strong troubleshooting and critical-thinking skills with the ability to drive technical issues toward resolution. Excellent client-facing communication and presentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical audiences. Strong written communication, documentation, organization, and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects and drive accountability across internal and external resources. Preferred Qualifications Experience working within a Managed Service Provider (MSP), IT consulting firm, or technology services organization. Experience managing Microsoft 365, cloud migration, networking, cybersecurity, infrastructure, or systems integration projects. Healthcare or senior living technology experience. Experience with new facility openings, acquisitions, divestitures, or technology transitions. Experience coordinating projects involving multiple technology vendors. Microsoft certifications or demonstrated technical training. PMP, CAPM, CompTIA Project+, or equivalent project management certification. ITIL or related IT service management experience or certification. Familiarity with PSA, project management, and IT documentation platforms. The Right Fit The successful Technical Project Manager is a project leader who thinks technically. This individual does not need to be the most senior engineer in the room but must understand the technology well enough to ask the right questions, recognize when something is missing, anticipate potential problems, and ensure the appropriate technical resources are engaged. The right person naturally looks beyond a task list to understand how systems, vendors, users, business processes, and technical dependencies connect. They are comfortable asking engineers to explain a technical approach, challenging an unrealistic vendor timeline, identifying an overlooked dependency, or explaining a complex technology change to a client executive. This position requires a high degree of ownership and accountability. The Technical Project Manager is expected to drive projects forward rather than simply report their status. The role requires strong analytical ability, technical aptitude, organization, urgency, and attention to detail. The successful candidate is comfortable managing ambiguity, making informed decisions, escalating concerns when necessary, and maintaining control of complex projects from discovery through completion. Most importantly, the Technical Project Manager understands that successful technology projects are measured not simply by whether the technology was installed, but by whether the solution works as intended, supports the client’s business objectives, and creates a positive experience for the people who depend on it.
