This role works with a high degree of independence on moderately complex projects, applies sound technical judgment to resolve advanced issues, and helps ensure infrastructure solutions align with enterprise standards and best practices. The Senior Systems Engineer partners with cross-functional teams and may mentor less experienced engineers, contributing to a culture of technical excellence. Success is measured through the reliable delivery of infrastructure projects, sound technical decision-making, and consistent support of secure, scalable, and highly available systems.  Key Responsibilities   Design, implement, and support infrastructure solutions spanning colocation, AWS cloud, networking, storage, virtualization, and identity services.  Lead moderately complex infrastructure projects from design through implementation, ensuring solutions meet enterprise standards and best practices.  Troubleshoot and resolve advanced technical issues, serving as an escalation point for infrastructure engineers.  Contribute to the development and refinement of infrastructure architecture standards, technical guidelines, and operational procedures.  Evaluate new tools and technologies and recommend improvements to scalability, reliability, security, and operational efficiency.  Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure technical solutions support business objectives.  Maintain platform availability, reliability, and security through proactive monitoring and maintenance.  Mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced systems engineers.  Create and maintain technical documentation, including standards, procedures, and runbooks.  Support automation, monitoring, and resiliency initiatives that drive continuous improvement.   Occasional travel to the Cincinnati data center to support infrastructure operations, including hardware deployment and outage response. Qualifications   Minimum 5 years of progressive IT infrastructure engineering experience supporting enterprise environments.  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.  Candidates with related Military or specialized training and extensive experience will also be considered.   Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Trusts, Group Policy, DNS, PowerShell, DFS, and Microsoft SQL Server.  Strong working knowledge of VMware vCenter, ESXi, vMotion, and Omnissa Horizon.  Experience with PingOne (or an equivalent IdP), SSO, SAML, and Active Directory integration of these technologies.  Solid networking experience including Cisco and Meraki switching, Cisco routing, TCP/IP, ODBC, and JDBC.  Experience with PRTG or equivalent monitoring platforms and SNMP.  Strong verbal, written, and technical documentation skills.  Additional Qualifications That Are Nice to Have   Experience with IBM Storwize, SAN technologies, Fibre Channel, and iSCSI.  Knowledge of AI as it pertains to IT Infrastructure design and administration.  Microsoft Server certifications.  VMware or Omnissa certifications.  Cisco certifications.  AWS or other cloud certifications.  Additional industry-recognized infrastructure, networking, security, or architecture certifications.  At SurePoint, we know our people are our greatest strength.
