About the role
Duties & Responsibilities: The Technical Business Systems Analyst is responsible for capturing and documenting all business and technical software requirements by coordinating and collaborating with business associates, Product Owners, and technical teams. Once created, these documents are used by both internal and external development teams to build the product and deploy it in the AWS cloud environment. The key for this role is not only capturing detailed requirements but understanding the underlying technologies and connecting business needs back to the UMB technology stack. Exceptional understanding of banking products, payment systems, and cloud technologies is essential for this job. Partner with business associates, Product Owners, and technical teams to elicit, capture, and document detailed business, software, and technical requirements. Author high-level and detailed design documents used by internal and external development teams to build and deploy solutions in the AWS cloud environment. Map businesses need back to UMB's technology stack, connecting distributed systems and mainframe environments. Analyze and document how applications interact across distributed and mainframe systems. Translate banking product requirements — including payment rails and real-time banking systems — into clear technical specifications. Ensure requirements align with banking regulations, data governance, security, and audit standards. Coordinate across on-shore and off-shore resources, accommodating offshore hours as needed to meet project timelines. Partner with architects, engineers, and Product Owners on solution reviews, estimation, and backlog grooming. Facilitate communication between business stakeholders and technical teams to resolve gaps, risks, and dependencies. Stay current with emerging AI, cloud, and banking technologies to inform requirement definition and solution design Knowledge & Skills: MINIMUM: Ability to understand business needs and document high-level and detailed design documents. Understanding of how applications connect across distributed systems and mainframe systems. Understanding of payment rails and real-time banking systems. Knowledge of banking regulations and various database systems. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Preferred: Familiarity with emerging AI technologies such as generative AI, NLP, and advanced deep learning. Knowledge of financial risk models, fraud detection, and compliance AI applications. Experience with vendor management and contract negotiations for AI/ML platforms. Ability to influence executive decision-making with technical insights. Strong financial acumen for managing AI program budgets and ROI. Job Requirements MINIMUM: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field. 15+ years of total experience in IT with at least 4 years' experience in a Leadership role with good experience in Banking, AWS, and AI. Proven experience collaborating with Business, Product, and Technical teams. Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to create detailed business, software, and technical requirements. Experience working with both on-shore and off-shore resources, accommodating offshore hours as needed depending on project need. Preferred: Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or Business Administration (MBA). 15–20 years of IT experience with deep exposure to AI/ML strategy and delivery in financial services. Certifications such as PMP, TOGAF, AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty, and any AI-related certifications. Experience leading large-scale digital transformation initiatives. Work Environment: Majority in-office environment with flexibility for hybrid/remote collaboration. Frequent interaction with business associates, Product Owners, architects, engineering teams, and both on-shore and off-shore resources; occasional offshore hour availability as needed to meet project timelines. Supervision/Management: Individual contributor role providing technical leadership and mentorship across business analysts, developers, and delivery teams. Partners with Product Owners, architects, and technology leadership to drive requirements definition, solution alignment, and delivery outcomes. This position was posted on 09/08/2026.
