Meet the Team   You’ll   join Silicon Labs’   RAIL team, which develops the Radio Abstraction Interface Layer (RAIL)—the embedded software that enables developers to configure, control, and   optimize   wireless radios across Silicon Labs’ IoT products. The team works closely with radio, firmware, SDK, validation, and applications engineering teams to deliver reliable, high-performance wireless capabilities for technologies such as Bluetooth Low Energy, proprietary wireless, and multiprotocol IoT solutions.   Responsibilities   Develop and   maintain   embedded software features for Silicon   Labs   wireless radio platforms.    Design, implement, test, and debug firmware in C/C++ for resource-constrained microcontrollers.    Support radio-control capabilities, including   transmit, receive, power management, timing, and diagnostic features.    Collaborate with hardware, radio design, SDK, validation, and applications teams to bring new wireless products and features to market.    Investigate software and hardware integration issues using debuggers, logic analyzers, and other lab tools.    Contribute to code reviews, technical documentation, automated testing, and continuous improvement of development processes.   Skills You Need   Minimum Qualifications   Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or   a related   technical field.    Strong interest in embedded software, wireless communications, and low-level system development.    Academic or project experience in embedded software development using C or C++.    Understanding of   fundamental wireless communication concepts, including RF, modulation, packet-based communication, or digital signal processing.    Familiarity with microcontrollers, embedded peripherals, interrupts, memory-constrained systems, and real-time software concepts.    Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.    Ability to use development and debugging tools such as JTAG/SWD debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or protocol analyzers.    Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment and communicate technical concepts clearly.   Ability to learn complex technical systems, analyze issues, and turn requirements into well-tested software.    Clear communication and a collaborative approach to solving engineering challenges.   The following skills will be considered a plus:   Internship, co-op, research, or project experience related to embedded firmware, wireless systems, or IoT devices.   Experience with bare-metal embedded software development, including low-level programming without an RTOS.     Exposure to   Bluetooth Low Energy, Zigbee, Thread, Wi-Fi, proprietary wireless protocols, or multiprotocol systems.    Experience with Python or other scripting languages for test automation, data analysis, or development tooling.    Knowledge of RTOS concepts, device drivers, bootloaders, power optimization, or embedded security.    Exposure to Git, CI/CD workflows, unit testing, and automated hardware-in-the-loop testing.    Participation in engineering competitions, technical organizations, research publications, or relevant student leadership activities.   Benefits & Perks       You can look forward to the following benefits:        Great medical (Choice of PPO or Consumer Driven Health Plan with HSA), dental and vision plans     Highly competitive salary     401k plan with match and Roth plan   option      Equity rewards (RSUs)     Life/AD&D and disability coverage    Flexible spending accounts     Adoption   assistance      Back-Up childcare     Additional   benefit options (Commuter benefits, Legal benefits, Pet insurance)     Flexible PTO schedule     3 paid volunteer days per year     Tuition reimbursement     Free downtown parking     Onsite gym    Monthly wellness offerings     Free snacks     Monthly company updates with our CEO    #LI-MA1      #LI-Hybrid     The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $78,750 - $146,250 USD. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location where work will be performed and applicant’s skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus, equity package and a comprehensive benefits package.
