Posting number: 08601 Department: Solid Waste Collections Job classification: Senior Equipment Operator - Curbside Posting type: External & Internal Categories: Sanitation Summary Under immediate supervision, performs responsible semi-skilled work in the operation of heavy equipment within the Sanitation Division. Examples of duties Operates hoist truck, rear load packer, scow dump truck and leaf loader. Operates hoist truck in the collection of brush and bulky item collection, operates scow truck and   lead loader in the collection of leaves. Responsible for safety practices of the crew with equipment and uniforms; will perform other skilled and semi-skilled work as assigned. Qualifications Any combination of education and experience equivalent to the completion of the eleventh grade and considerable experience in the operation of motorized equipment. Possession of a North Carolina (CDL) Commercial Class A or B driver's license is required.  Skills and experience in operating hoist and rear load packer. Knowledge of city and ability to understand and follow directions. Supplemental information PHYSICAL  REQUIREMENTS: (Reasonable accommodations may substitute for physical requirements listed):  Must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs. and maneuver up to 3 miles; must be able to operate heavy equipment; work with large and small  objects. This position will work outdoors and may be exposed to changing weather, adverse smells and sights, loud sounds and repetitive operations.
