About the role

The Project Controls Specialist is responsible for planning, monitoring, and controlling project performance throughout the project lifecycle. This role supports successful project execution by providing cost control, scheduling, forecasting, progress measurement, reporting, risk analysis, and change management services. The specialist works closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, procurement teams, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget. Benefits: ABM offers a comprehensive benefits package.  For information about ABM’s benefits, visit ABM 2025 Employee Benefits | Staff and Management Team Members Project Planning & Scheduling   Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules using industry-standard software (Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar).   Establish baseline schedules and monitor progress against approved plans.   Analyze schedule performance and identify potential delays or bottlenecks.   Support project teams with schedule recovery and acceleration plans.   Perform critical path analysis and provide schedule risk assessments.   Cost Control & Forecasting   Monitor project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts.   Track project costs and analyze variances against approved budgets.   Prepare cost reports, cash flow projections, and Estimate-at-Completion (EAC) forecasts.   Support monthly project financial reviews and management reporting.   Ensure accurate cost coding and project accounting alignment.   Performance Measurement & Reporting   Collect, validate, and analyze project progress data.   Develop and maintain project dashboards and performance metrics.   Prepare weekly and monthly project status reports for management and stakeholders.   Utilize Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques to measure project performance.   Identify trends and provide recommendations for corrective actions.   Change Management   Support the evaluation and documentation of change orders and scope modifications.   Assess schedule and cost impacts associated with project changes.   Maintain project change logs and ensure proper approvals are obtained.   Coordinate with project teams to incorporate approved changes into project controls systems.   Risk Management   Participate in project risk identification and mitigation activities.   Track risk registers and monitor the effectiveness of mitigation plans.   Support quantitative and qualitative risk assessments.   Provide recommendations to minimize project exposure and improve outcomes.   Project Coordination   Collaborate with project managers, engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and clients.   Participate in project meetings and provide controls-related updates.   Ensure project controls processes comply with company standards and client requirements.   Support audits, documentation reviews, and lessons learned initiatives.   Other tasks as assigned   Required Qualifications   3-7 years of experience in project controls, construction management, engineering, or related project environments.   Experience supporting semiconductor construction, infrastructure, industrial, energy, or capital projects.   Strong understanding of scheduling, cost control, forecasting, and project reporting practices.   Proficiency with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, and project management software (Procore)   Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.   Strong written and verbal communication abilities.   Preferred Qualifications   Knowledge of SAP, Oracle, EcoSys, Deltek, Procore, or other project controls systems.   Experience in Semiconductor or large capital construction projects.   Advanced data analytics and reporting skills using Power BI or similar tools.     Key Competencies   Cost Management   Project Scheduling   Forecasting and Budgeting   Risk Analysis   Change Control   Progress Measurement   Data Analysis   Critical Thinking   Stakeholder Communication   Attention to Detail   Team Collaboration   Working Conditions   Combination of home office, local office, and construction site environments.   May require periodic travel to project locations.   Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.   Occasional extended hours may be required to support project milestones and reporting cycles.   Success Measures   A successful Project Controls Specialist will:   Deliver accurate and timely project cost and schedule reporting.   Identify risks and performance issues early.   Improve project visibility through effective forecasting and analytics.   Support projects in achieving schedule, budget, and performance objectives.   Promote project controls best practices across project teams.   Compensation      Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance       Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options       401(k) Retirement Plan with Company Match       Company-Paid Life and Disability Insurance       Paid Time Off (PTO) and Paid Holidays       Employee Assistance Program (EAP)       Professional Development and Certification Reimbursement       Tuition Assistance Programs       Career Advancement Opportunities       Travel Reimbursement (where applicable)    ABM (NYSE: ABM) is one of the world’s largest providers of integrated facility, engineering, and infrastructure solutions.
