Mechanical Engineer II

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer designs, modifies and evaluates mechanical components for both Research and Development (R & D) and sustaining production. May coordinate the efforts of drafters, application engineers and machine shop personnel as needed.   Responsibilities:  Apply engineering principles to conduct routine analyses and/or tests pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials or processes. Write test procedures, compile, and evaluate design & test data and prepare technical specifications. Recommend design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products or processes. Evaluate non-conformances in production to determine root cause and implement corrective actions. Contributes to project planning, including estimating effort and cost, prioritizing/ordering tasks. Provide technical clarification about product function, acceptable modifications, and limitations to sales groups and customers. Identifies and implements opportunities for improvement, both for products and processes. Other duties as assigned.   Requirements:  Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience. 4 or more years of experience in designing mechanical components/systems for industrial applications. Proficient in 3D modeling software to design mechanical parts, assemblies, and drawings. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of ASME B31.1, B31.3 and BPVC Code construction preferred. Experience with common measurement instruments. Experience with product development and product life cycle preferred.
