Position Summary/Description: The Lead Engineer provides advanced technical expertise and cross functional leadership in the development and delivery of engineering solutions across multiple disciplines. This role is responsible for solving complex problems, setting technical direction, and leading engineers across functional areas. The lead engineer works independently and collaboratively, exercising significant judgment within broadly defined procedures and practices. This position builds productive internal/external working relationships and is a key technical leader within the team. Responsibilities: Lead the design and implementation of advanced engineering solutions across multiple disciplines. Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers across disciplines, fostering skill development and best practices, within team/product line. Set technical direction for cross functional engineering projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Develop and review clear, maintainable technical deliverables (designs, specifications, code) confirming to company standards. Promote best practices in documentation, revision control, and configuration management across team(s). Lead cross-functional collaboration across engineering teams to develop, validate and deliver product features. Provide comprehensive design, verification, and validation documentation artifacts. Drive continuous improvement in engineering development processes and methodologies across disciplines. Lead and participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and cross functional decision making. Other tasks and activities as assigned. Serve as the primary technical point of contact across engineering disciplines for assigned projects. Coordinate and align technical efforts across Global Engineering teams. Drive resolution of cross functional technical issues and trade of decisions. Represent engineering in program/project reviews and stakeholder meetings. Identify and mitigate technical risks across the integrated product development lifecycle. Define or contribute to system level architecture and requirements decomposition. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree preferred. Experience leading technical teams or projects, via influence with indirect reporting relationships across multiple disciplines; Firmware, Hardware/Electrical, Software, Mechanical, Systems, Testing, etc. Demonstrated ability to understand and evaluate technical work across multiple engineering domains. Ability to read and interpret technical documentation across disciplines (schematics, mechanical drawings, system diagrams). Proven ability to balance both Hands On Technical Skill application and use as well as the Primary lead on project work; directing, reviewing and/or coordinating the work of others. Strong cross functional problem solving and root cause analysis skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience with engineering tools and configuration management systems. Demonstrated experience mentoring and leading other engineers. Experience coordinating across hardware, firmware, mechanical and/or systems engineering. Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across organizational levels Experience with product development life cycle from concept through production. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of network and server management protocols such as SNMP, SSH, TCP/IP. Experience with engineering design principles and Agile/iterative development methods. Ability to work across all levels of the organization. Broad technical knowledge spanning multiple engineering disciplines. Programming experience is a plus Experience with batteries and data centers is a plus. Experience with systems engineering methodologies (requirements management, V model, etc.) Familiarity with product safety standards and regulatory compliance. Experience with risk management frameworks (DFMEA, PFMEA) Experience with Vertiv Products/Product Lines, a plus Six Sigma, Lean or other continuous improvement certifications, a plus.
