Job Summary The School of Marketing in the College of Business & Economic Development at The University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants to apply for a nine-month position of Instructor of Marketing beginning in August 2027. This position is for the Hattiesburg campus and will support our growing face-to-face and online Marketing degrees, minors, and certificates. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses and, depending on academic credentials and program needs, may have opportunities to teach graduate courses. The position carries a teaching load of 12 semester credit hours per term and includes participation in School events and activities. Primary Duties and Responsibilities    Teach four courses per semester (or equivalent) to be determined by the Director of the School. Teaching assignments will primarily support the Marketing BSBA degree, minors, certificates, and related programs.  Teach a variety of marketing courses based on program needs, with particular emphasis on Principles of Marketing, Creative Marketing, AI Applications in Marketing, and/or other courses as needed. Demonstrate a commitment to high-quality teaching in both face-to-face and online learning environments, and contribute service supporting the mission of the School, College, and University. Collaborate effectively with faculty and staff and participate in School events, activities, and initiatives. Additional responsibilities may include mentoring undergraduate students, supporting student recruitment and retention efforts, and performing other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications A minimum of a master's degree in marketing, business, or a closely related field is required by the start of the appointment. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full time and continuing basis without current or future sponsorship. Temporary employment authorizations, including OPT and CPT, do not satisfy this requirement. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to articulate concepts and instructions effectively to students. Capacity to build positive and professional relationships with students and colleagues. Skilled in managing course materials, time, and administrative tasks like grading and answering emails. Familiarity with standard software for communication and online learning platforms.  Preferred Qualifications Candidates who demonstrate the following are preferred: Relevant professional experience in marketing A doctorate in Marketing or a closely related field. Experience developing and delivering face-to-face and online instruction at the undergraduate level, with graduate teaching experience considered when appropriate to the candidate's academic credentials. Experience engaging and supporting diverse student populations and developing relationships with community and business partners. Experience with student recruitment and retention initiatives. Evidence of effective collaboration in academic or professional environments. Relevant teaching experience and demonstrated effectiveness in applied, project-based, or client-based learning. Demonstrated ability to engage students and challenge them to develop the knowledge, skills, and problem-solving abilities needed to become successful marketing professionals.
