Company: Heartland Consulting Employment Type: Full-Time / Anticipated Future Opportunities Location: Remote, Hybrid, or On-Site depending on contract requirements Position Summary Heartland Consulting is seeking Financial Data Analysts for anticipated federal contract opportunities involving budget execution, financial analysis, reporting, reconciliation, data visualization, and process automation. Ideal candidates will combine hands-on financial or budget analysis experience with strong technical skills in Excel, Power BI, Power Query, financial systems, and workflow automation. Key Responsibilities Analyze financial, budget, and operational data to support management decision-making. Track obligations, commitments, expenditures, execution rates, and other financial metrics. Develop and maintain Status of Funds, variance, reconciliation, and financial tracking reports. Reconcile transactions and identify discrepancies across financial systems and data sources. Develop dashboards and reporting solutions to provide visibility into budget execution and financial performance. Automate recurring financial reports, notifications, approvals, and data collection processes. Develop financial models and recurring reporting tools using Excel and Power Query. Support financial data validation and reconciliation activities. Document financial processes, automated workflows, and reporting procedures. Support audit readiness and internal control activities. Work with budget officers, resource managers, program managers, and other stakeholders. Desired Software & Systems Experience Candidates should have hands-on experience with financial analysis tools and one or more federal or DoD financial systems. Primary Tools Microsoft Excel – advanced formulas, financial analysis, and reconciliation Power Query – data cleanup, transformation, and recurring reporting Microsoft Power BI – financial dashboards and reporting Microsoft Power Automate – workflow and reporting automation Federal / DoD Financial Systems Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable: DEAMS GFEBS DTS Checkbook Pegasys Experience with SQL or Tableau is a plus. Preferred Qualifications Experience with federal or DoD financial management, budget execution, resource management, or financial analysis. Experience using financial systems of record and reconciling information across multiple systems. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience developing Power BI dashboards and financial reports. Experience automating financial or administrative processes. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, data analytics, or a related field preferred.
