Job Summary The Drexel University Physician Assistant (PA) Program invites applications from an experienced, energetic, and collaborative PA educator to join our faculty. This is a 12-month, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor, Associate Clinical Professor, or Clinical Professor. The successful candidate will contribute to both the didactic and clinical phases of the program and will have opportunities to engage in teaching, student mentoring, assessment, curriculum development, and service. Drexel’s PA Program is one of the nation’s oldest and most established PA education programs. Located within the Drexel University College of Nursing & Health Professions (CNHP), the program prepares future physician assistants to provide high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care across diverse populations and clinical settings. This state-of-the-art health education and research facility brings together CNHP’s academic programs with Drexel’s Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences & Professional Studies and College of Medicine, creating exceptional opportunities for collaboration across health professions and disciplines. The building provides modern instructional, simulation, clinical skills, research, and collaborative spaces that support innovative health professions education. Drexel’s University City campus is situated within one of the nation’s most dynamic academic and health sciences communities. The surrounding University City neighborhood is home to the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Medicine, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and numerous healthcare, research, technology, and life sciences organizations. The area is a vibrant hub for innovation, clinical practice, research, and education, with an extensive array of restaurants, businesses, cultural attractions, and wellness spaces. This is an exciting opportunity for a PA educator to join a well-established program within a comprehensive health professions college and to contribute to the education of the next generation of physician assistants. Essential Functions Collaborate with the Program Director, Associate Program Director, faculty, and staff to support excellence in PA education and student success across the didactic and clinical phases of the program. Contribute to the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of curricular and programmatic initiatives. Participate in the development, review, and revision of the curriculum to ensure alignment with ARC-PA accreditation standards, the NCCPA Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE) blueprint, and contemporary best practices in PA education. Serve as a course director and/or co-course director for assigned didactic and clinical courses. Develop and deliver engaging lectures, laboratory instruction, and other learning experiences based on established course objectives and student learning outcomes. Collaborate in course planning and design, including development and revision of instructional materials, assessments, learning activities, and other course resources. Participate in the assessment of student learning and progression, including ensuring that PA student competencies are appropriately assessed, documented, and monitored. Provide and/or coordinate remedial instruction and other academic support for students as appropriate. Serve as a faculty advisor to an assigned group of students across cohorts and mentor students regarding academic progress, professional development, and career preparation. Serve as a graduate project advisor for students within each cohort. Develop and maintain relationships with clinical education partners and identify new clinical sites to support the program's educational needs and growth. Participate in clinical education activities, including student site visits for clinical rotations and Primary Care Practicum experiences. Participate in the PA program's admissions process, including regular review of CASPA applications and participation in applicant interviews and selection activities. Participate in the ARC-PA accreditation process, including self-study preparation, continuous quality improvement activities, assessment, and implementation of accreditation-related initiatives. Engage in scholarly activity and contribute to research, presentations, publications, or other professional activities consistent with faculty expertise and interests. Serve on committees and participate in service activities at the program, college, and university levels. Represent the Drexel PA Program at local, state, and national professional meetings, conferences, and other activities that advance the program and the PA profession. Participate in PA program meetings, faculty retreats, student society activities, alumni events, white coat ceremonies, senior celebrations, and other program and college events. Contribute to the ongoing development and review of the PA Program's mission, goals, competencies, and strategic priorities. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director. Required Qualifications Minimum of a Master's Degree in Physician Assistant. Minimum of 1+ years of experience. Certified Physician Assistant with PA education experience Pennsylvania licensure or eligibility Excellence in classroom and/or clinical teaching Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and health equity Knowledge of and experience in the ARC-PA accreditation process Evidence of demonstrated commitment to student achievement and success as well as strong support for faculty development and a commitment to collaboration within the PA program and across the institution Preferred Qualifications Doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, DMSc, DHSc) Evidence of successful and effective teaching in a physician assistant education program Evidence of demonstrated commitment to student success Physical Demands Typically sitting at a desk/table Typically standing, walking Location University City - Philadelphia, PA Additional Information This is a Full-Time Faculty position classified as Exempt. The offered salary is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
