We constantly acquire new skills and learn from our experiences to enhance our collective expertise Job Introduction: We are seeking a hands-on Laboratory IT Support SME to support laboratory computing environments and scientific instrumentation across R&D labs, with a particular focus on fulfilling the IT role in computer system validation (CSV) activities. This position sits at the intersection of IT and scientific operations, requiring close partnership with scientists, vendors, and enterprise IT teams to ensure reliable and compliant lab operations. This role requires cross-domain troubleshooting, independence, and comfort acting as the bridge between scientists and IT. Job Responsibilities: Provide day-to-day IT support for lab PCs and instrument-connected systems, troubleshooting issues across OS, applications, and instrument connectivity for both standalone and client/server lab systems Perform installs, upgrades, and configuration for scientific and laboratory software, including chromatography and other analysis tools, ensuring reliability within lab workflows Support onboarding of new lab instruments and coordinate with vendors during installs, upgrades, and troubleshooting Serve as the primary IT contact for lab users, supporting Windows environments, Active Directory, permissions, basic networking (DNS, ports, connectivity), and backup/restore processes Fulfill the IT role in computer system validation activities, ensuring technical controls are in place to satisfy data integrity and other requirements defined by the business (which owns validation as a whole) Partner with instrument vendors on IQ/OQ validation packages, performing or supporting the IQ portion and providing technical troubleshooting support for OQ issues; be able to step into the IT role of an IQ/OQ activity as needed Work within Veeva and change control processes, keeping validation and technical documentation current and audit-ready Provide occasional off-hours support (rare, roughly quarterly), typically resolved remotely Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or a related field Experience supporting lab environments, preferably in pharma, biotech, or manufacturing settings Hands-on experience with instrument-connected PCs and strong IT troubleshooting across hardware, software, and networking Experience working in a GxP environment, with exposure to computer system validation concepts Comfort working with Veeva and change control processes, including maintaining validation documentation Windows administration and Active Directory experience, plus basic networking knowledge Ability and willingness to work onsite across two locations (Cambridge and Norton) on a regular weekly schedule, with occasional off-hours availability Experience with lab instrument vendors (e.g., Agilent, Waters, Illumina) preferred Linux experience and database familiarity preferred For US geography, the salary range for this position is shown below.
